MultiCam

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
MultiCam pattern for American soldiers in Afghanistan.

The MultiCam camouflage pattern was developed by the US company Crye Precision in cooperation with the United States Army Soldier Systems Center . MultiCam was part of the Future Force Warrior concept, which should flow into the discontinued Future Combat System . It is now used in the Brigade Combat Team Modernization program. The camouflage pattern has so far nothing to do with the introduction and use of the Army Combat Uniform (ACU). MultiCam was developed to blur the contours of the soldier in different terrain, seasons, exposure to light and under infrared.

At the moment there are considerations in the US Army to replace the introduced ACUs with MultiCam, as the former sometimes have qualitative deficiencies and geographically only have very limited camouflage properties. The British Army has been using the Multi-Terrain Pattern (MTP) based on MultiCam since 2010 .
