Triceps surae muscle
In anatomy, three skeletal muscles are summarized as the triceps surae muscle ( Latin for "three-headed calf muscle") :
- Caput laterale of the gastrocnemius muscle
- Caput mediale of the gastrocnemius muscle
- Soleus muscle
Their common tendon insertion is known as the Achilles tendon .
The triceps surae muscle is the identification muscle for the S1 spinal cord segment . Its paralysis makes it impossible to roll the foot and results in severe walking difficulties . If there is damage as a result of polio occurs, the clinical picture of " Hack foot " ( Pes calcaneus ).
