The Museum Erding is a local museum in Erding . The city of Erding is responsible for this.

history

The Erdingen master shoemaker Anton Bachmair founded the museum in 1856. He laid the foundation for the collection with musicians' uniforms, weapons and other items. With over 160 years of collection history, it is one of the oldest municipal museums in Bavaria. In the following decades it was housed in different rooms: In the old town hall, in the Schrannenhalle and in the new town hall. It was outsourced for over 10 years during World War II. Since 1986 it has been located in the former Antoniusheim, which previously served as a “children's home” or kindergarten from 1855 to 1972. In 2010, the gold-colored, scaled new building was added.

collection

The collection comprises over 50,000 objects, including the Oberding bar hoard . In the old building of the museum, a house from the late 17th century, the prehistory and early history as well as the development of the city from its beginnings is presented. The new building is dedicated to two important Erdingen crafts: the bell founders and the loderers.

Today the history of the city is shown, which began in the 8th century. The focus is on the topics of "Church art and popular piety", "Everyday life in Erding", "City history" and "Prehistory and early history". A museum educational work room is available for workshop offers, lecture and seminar rooms can be used in a variety of ways.
