Since it was founded in 2001, the Musicians Board has become the largest Internet forum for musicians in German-speaking countries. Well over 250,000 users have so far posted over 8.5 million posts on the subject of music.

Content

The music topics are divided into the forum

  • "Musical instruments" (electric guitars, acoustic guitars, bass, drums, keyboard instruments and keyboards, vocals, wind instruments, strings, accordion, others and technology),
  • "Making music" (music theory, music practice, MB regional, genre discussions, user music),
  • "Recording" (software, hardware, know-how, miscellaneous),
  • "PA, event technology" (PA, sound, lighting, DJ, electrics and mechanics) as well
  • "Others".

The essential content of all areas is the exchange of knowledge and experience as well as advice from musicians for musicians.

The board also offers a flea market, a gallery, a member overview, a musician search and reviews on music topics.

history

The internet platform was created in 2001 as an offer for customers of the music specialist “Musik-Service” based in Aschaffenburg. The original idea of the owners Johannes and Martin Hofmann was to relieve the company's customer support through an online community with a focus on music and musical instruments. Regardless of the telephone or personal consultation in the store, musicians and budding musicians should have the opportunity to support one another. Since participation in the musicians' board was not exclusively reserved for customers and employees of the music service, the platform soon developed into the virtual meeting place with the largest number of members for musicians and those interested in music in German-speaking countries.

When the music service went out of business in 2011, miCOM GmbH took over the operation of the forum with the partners Martin Hofmann, Johannes Hofmann, Klaus Langer and Hans Thomann.
