Mutable tissue

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The mutabile tissue is typical of Echinodermata . It is still largely unexplored, but is associated with the high regenerative capacity . It has been proven that rapid changes in the consistency of this tissue can be achieved through the influence of the nervous system. So a starfish z. B. stiffen his arm over a long period of time without having to use muscle strength. A brittle star, on the other hand, needs an arm that is as flexible as possible to move.
