NFL Draft 1993
The NFL Draft 1993 was the process of selecting new players ( Draft ) in American football of the 1993 season of the National Football League (NFL). The draft took place from April 25-26 , 1993 at the Marriot Marquis in New York City . The draft ran over eight rounds in which 224 players were selected.
As the first player in the draft, Drew Bledsoe was selected by the New England Patriots . Mr. Irrelevant (the last selected player in a draft) was Daron Alcorn for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . Most players picked four teams (the Denver Broncos , New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers) of 10 each, and the Kansas City Chiefs at least 5.
To date (2020) four players who have been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in this draft ( Willie Roaf , Michael Strahan , Jerome Bettis , Will Shields ).
It was the only draft with eight rounds, in the previous draft there were twelve rounds and in the following draft the NFL switched to the system with only seven rounds.
Selected players
Before the start of the regular season , no player was selected in the supplemental draft . Due to the election of Dave Brown ( New York Giants ) and Darren Mickell ( Kansas City Chiefs ) in the preseason Supplemental Draft , the Giants lost their first round pick and the Chiefs their second round pick . In the first round, 29 players were selected, as the Philadelphia Eagles (for the loss of Reggie White as a free agent ) and the Arizona Cardinals (for Tim McDonald ) each received an additional draft right in the first round.
