Neighborhood initiative

Neighborhood initiative refers to the association of citizens or institutions that are located in close proximity to one another in order to bundle common interests.

The aim is usually to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood.

Subject are u. a. Joint events for encounters in the neighborhood, such as street, local or district festivals, or regular meetings and cultural events, measures to improve the social situation, the structural conditions, the traffic situation, the commercial structure and the representation of common interests vis-à-vis the local government as a form of expression the citizen participation . Citizens' assemblies are also often initiated by neighborhood initiatives.

Neighborhood initiatives are often organized in the form of district or local associations.

In the context of civil society, they are a manifestation of the citizens' initiative with a local focus.

Neighborhood initiatives are also initiated and promoted in many cities by the local government as part of neighborhood management programs.
