Loss of after-effects

The after-effects losses (also known as residual or viscosity losses ) are part of the iron losses in addition to the hysteresis and eddy current losses. They record the lag of induction behind a previous field change (delays in the turning processes and the diffusion processes). For high inductions , they are negligible compared to the above losses ( hysteresis and eddy current losses ).

These losses arise from grid distortions as a result of non-magnetic foreign inclusions. A high carbon content increases these losses enormously.
