A nevus sebaceus , also called sebaceous nevus or nevus sebaceus Jadassohn , is a skin change that usually occurs on the face or on the hairy scalp.

A combination with a nevus spilus is found in phakomatosis pigmentokeratotica .

Epidemiology

It is a moderately common disease. It is usually congenital and can regress during puberty, but sometimes occurs in the second or third decade of life. Sebaceous nevi also occur in Schimmelpenning-Feuerstein-Mims syndrome .

clinic

A nevus sebaceus is typically yellowish to reddish in color and has a smooth or finely furrowed, papillomatous surface. Most of the time, the hair in this area is completely absent. There is an association with aplasia cutis congenita .

forecast

In rare cases, a sebaceous nevus can develop into a basalioma or other malignant tumor .
