Nancy B. Reich

Nancy Bassen Reich (born July 3, 1924 in New York City , † January 31, 2019 in Ossining , New York ) was an American musicologist .

Life

Nancy B. Reich studied at the High School of Music and Art (now Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School ) and at Queens College in New York as well as at Columbia University and received her doctorate from New York University in 1972 with a thesis on Johann Friedrich Reichardt . She later taught at Manhattanville College and was visiting professor at Bard College and Williams College .

Her main work is the biography of Clara Schumann, first published in 1985 . It has been translated into German , Japanese , Chinese and Hebrew .

Most recently, an edition of Clara Schumann's youth diaries was published, which she developed together with Gerd Nauhaus .
