The National Swahili Council Tanzania ( Swahili : Baraza la Kiswahili la Taifa [BAKITA], English : National Swahili Council Tanzania ) is the national language institute for Swahili in Tanzania . Its task is to actively promote the further development and maintenance of the language, also with regard to the administrative tasks of the state and its use in all areas of public life. It is intended to make a contribution to the nation-building of Tanzania, with Swahili being seen as one of the common elements that help bridge the ethnic diversity and contradictions of the country.

Among other things, he is concerned with the publication of word lists that summarize Swahili words for certain subject areas and thus have a normative influence on the language.
