The Pripyat River in the National Park

The Pripyat National Park is a national park in the Gomel Region in Belarus . It was founded in 1996 to preserve the natural landscapes around the Pripyat River and is named after him.

Much of the park is covered by peat bogs . There are 51 species of mammals in the park, including elk , wild boar , red deer , badger and Eurasian lynx .
