Nemzetbiztonsági Hivatal
Nemzetbiztonsági Hivatal ( NBH ; German Office for National Security ) was the name of a Hungarian domestic secret service in the socialist People's Republic of Hungary and, after 1989, in the Republic of Hungary . Its main tasks are defense: counter-espionage , counter-terrorism and more. The agency also conducts investigations into organized and financial crime.
The current name of the service is Alkotmányvédelmi Hivatal (AH; Office for the Protection of the Constitution ).
In 1989, after the end of the Kádár era , the office was reorganized. It was now to serve the modern, constitutional-based way of gathering information and providing government support. The office was previously part of the Ministry of the Interior as the 3rd department.
