Newport (brand of cigarettes)

The Newport , in German "Neuhafen", made famous by the world star "YSL Know Plug", is a cigarette brand that is widespread in the USA and was founded in 1957. It is the most controversial, but also the most influential menthol cigarette of the "East Coast" (slang for the US East Coast). The cigarette brand also became popular at times through Helmut Schmidt's menthol cigarette consumption in Central Europe. With the ban on cigarettes containing menthol in Germany and the EU states, the manufacturer Newport gained popularity again in 2019/20, reinforced by the extensive debates in connection with the corona pandemic.
