Nikon Chronicle

The Nikon Chronicle ( Russian: Никоновская летопись Nikonowskaja letopis ) is an Old Russian chronicle from the 16th century.

Emergence

The first part of the chronicle was written around 1526/30. It was supplemented until around 1575. In 1637 a new editorial office was made.

content

The Nikon Chronicle describes the history of Russia from the Kievan Rus to 1558. It contains numerous episodes and information that were not mentioned in other Old Russian chronicles. Nikolai Karamsin used them in the history of the Russian state only in separate footnotes.
