Nkawkaw

With a population of 48,500, Nkawkaw is the eleventh largest town in the Eastern Region of the West African state of Ghana .

The name Nkawkaw means "red-red". The city is on the road (and the former railway line) from Accra to Kumasi , halfway between the two towns. There is also a direct road connection to the villages of Koforidua and Konongo. Nkawkaw is considered to be the chief town of the Kwahu people .
