Sunday Nkonde

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sunday Nkonde is the former Advocate General in Zambia . An advocate general is a government official who represents the government or its services in any process in which the government is involved. These are usually civil trials. In Zambia he is directly in front of the state lawyers.

As in the case of the 2006 Election Commission, the Attorney General can order him to defend someone. Conversely, the customer can ask them to take action, as in the case of the Omega TV, whose license was not renewed and an operating license was therefore missing.

Sunday Nkonde defended former President Frederick Chiluba - also against his wife Vera Chiluba Tembo in the divorce process. Sunday Nkonde also called on the lawyers in Zambia to act in a specific way and seems to understand his office as an overall legal and political one.

On November 19, 2007, he was removed from office by President Levy Mwanawasa .
