The Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN, the German Institute for Standardization e. V. is responsible for standardization work in the field of mechanical engineering. This also includes the use of information and communication technologies (ICT), which are particularly relevant in the field of industrial automation and integration (robotics). Here the NAM provides the German mirror committees for the TC184 and its sub-committees.

history

The NAM was founded on March 11, 1949. In accordance with an agreement between DIN and VDMA, it is financially, personally and organisationally affiliated to the VDMA. He cooperates closely with the Machine Tools Standards Committee (NWM), which is also affiliated with the VDMA.

Standard areas

Standardization work is defined for the following areas and areas: drive technology, elevators, escalators, moving walks, construction and building material machines, sewing and clothing machines, shoe and leather machines, mining machines, printing and paper machines, fluid technology, conveyor technology (cranes, hoists, lifting platforms, industrial trucks , Continuous conveyors, storage technology), safes and safe systems, foundry machines, woodworking machines, iron and steel mills, industrial automation and integration (robotics), compressors and compressed air technology (vacuum technology), rubber / plastic machines, agricultural technology, general ventilation technology (ventilation equipment and systems, surface technology ), Food machines, power systems (motors and turbines), pumps, cleaning technology, thermal process technology, process technology, packaging machines and laundry and dry cleaning machines.

organization

The NAM has currently organized its technical work in 25 specialist areas, which are assigned to the respective specialist associations of the VDMA. The NAM is one of the largest standards committees in DIN.
