description

Cairns were established from the Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age between 3000 and 1000 BC. Created. When the North Kirktonmoor Cairn was built has not been investigated. It is located on a slight hill and has a trapezoidal floor plan with side lengths of around 22.0 and 15.0 m respectively. The unusual floor plan could be due to the destruction of the original structure by field work. There are signs that the system has malfunctioned in the past. Today the cairn is covered with earth and overgrown with grass.
