Norwegian women's lobby

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Norwegian Women's Lobby (norw. Norges kvinnelobby ; English Norwegian Women's Lobby ) is a non-partisan political lobby organization based in Oslo and the umbrella organization for Norwegian women's rights and women's organizations. It was founded in 2014 and is modeled after similar organizations in other countries, such as the Swedish Women's Lobby and the European Women's Lobby at EU level. It consists of ten national member organizations.

The purpose is to promote the situation of women at home and abroad. Its establishment was in line with the recommendations of the government-appointed Equal Opportunities Commission (2010). The founding organizations were described by the Equal Opportunities Ombud Sunniva Ørstavik as “the foundation of the women's rights movement in Norway”.
