Traditional noshi

Noshi ( Japanese 熨斗 ), sometimes also called tsutsumi or noshigami , is a ceremonial origami that is completely different from "origami-tsuki". They symbolize good wishes to someone else and are usually given with other gifts (like a greeting card).

history

At Noshi, flowers, offerings or other gifts were wrapped in paper in a kind of ceremony and brought to the gods in the temples. On different occasions, very special paper and different techniques were used. The folding techniques and the type of figures were mostly passed on orally in the families and were also considered a secret.

nature

Noshi consists of white paper, which is folded with a narrow strip of dried meat or abalone , this is seen as a sign of great luck.
