Notable Names Database
The nndb ( NNDB ) is an online - database , the biographies of more than 40,000 known personalities published from different areas. The operator of the website , Soylent Communications , describes the NNDB as an aggregator and, in addition to current profiles, would like to meaningfully link the personalities within the database.
history
The project started on August 7th, 2002 and is free of advertising to this day. In the meantime, the NND has become part of the research websites of library service centers and larger universities in Germany and abroad.
scope
The profiles include data such as biographical data, curriculum vitae, religious affiliation, ethnic affiliation, sexual orientation, organizations or events attended. In the case of authors, actors, and directors, the article lists the person's life's work in chronological order. There are also entries about films and music groups.
particularities
Visitors to the website can comment on individual entries. These suggestions for improvement / updating are checked by employees of the NNDB before they are published . With the NNDB Mapper, the networks of different people or organizations can be traced and graphically prepared.
