Emergency debate

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Notdebatte or emergency debate (Engl. Emergency debate ) is referred to in the statutes of the British Parliament an unscheduled meeting during the session period of Parliament from Monday to Thursday. The basis for this is Standing Order No. 24. The decision on the admissibility of the request is at the discretion of the speaker after three minutes' speaking time to justify a request by MPs. If the MPs vote in favor of holding an emergency debate, it will regularly take place on a different day, usually the next.
