OQEMA , which was the Overlack Group until 2017 , is a medium-sized sales company for chemical raw materials ( basic chemicals and specialties) with headquarters in Mönchengladbach .

The family company, together with its own subsidiaries and associated companies, is particularly active in Germany and Eastern Europe. Furthermore, its sales activities extend to Russia, the Baltic States, Turkey and Greece.

history

In 1922 the brothers Heinrich and Lutz Overlack, sons of a brickworks owner from Krefeld, founded Gebr. Overlack Chemische Fabrik GmbH as an independent trading company in Mönchengladbach and began producing and trading chemical raw materials for industrial customers in the region. In line with the earlier importance of the textile industry for Mönchengladbach, this group of customers was decisive at the beginning.

A large, widespread trading group has developed over the decades. Through acquisitions in the past 25 years and growth, the group of companies was able to expand its catchment area, its product range and its importance in the market.

The company was renamed in 2017 and has been operating under the name OQEMA AG since then.
