Lens (photo price)
The lens is an Austrian award for press photography. It recognizes the quality of Austrian photojournalism and honors extraordinary works by press photographers that have been published in an Austrian medium (print, online, agency).
It includes the categories of domestic and foreign policy, economy, chronicle, art and culture, sport and photo series. Most recently, the 2018 prize, worth a total of € 16,000, was awarded by the APA - Austria Press Agency and the Federal Guild for Professional Photographers.
An expert jury, consisting of long-time media and photography professionals, meets annually in a changing composition and determines six category winners and one main prize winner in a two-stage evaluation process (online and in person). The submissions will be judged according to the conditions of participation and according to the meaningfulness of the content, aesthetic, technical and design quality standards.
In 2017, the award was not advertised due to an evaluation phase.
