Odnoklassniki ( Одноклассники ; German classmates ) is a Russian online contact network that enables users to set up user profiles with a variety of personal details, photos, groups, forums, etc.
history
The Internet portal Odnoklassniki was founded in March 2006 by Albert Popkow and, according to Germany Trade and Invest, is one of the most successful projects on which former and current classmates, fellow students, work colleagues, etc. can find themselves. The project was originally financed only through the insertion of advertising banners. Registration is free again today after a fee has been charged in the meantime. In order to be able to use all the services of the project, however, after entering the personal data, it is necessary to send a chargeable activation SMS .
The owner is the Mail.Ru Group , a Russian investment company.
According to Alexa Odnoklassniki is (as ok.ru ) currently (as of November 2016) sechstpopulärste site of Russia and is world ranked 51. In most of the detected by Alexa successor states of the Soviet Union , the site is in the top ten, including in Moldavia on 4th place and 5th in Armenia and Georgia . In Germany it is 9th.
In March 2012, the Odnoklassniki network had around 135 million registered members.
Registration and login
Initially only available in Russian and since 2010 also in Ukrainian , the site now also offers its services in English and other languages. Every user has to register with his real name, which is publicly visible, and his date of birth. Registration takes place by entering the user name and a password of your choice.
