Octalyzer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Oktalyzer is developed by Armin Sander Music Tracker for Commodore - Amiga Computers. It was characterized by the fact that it could emulate eight virtual sound channels by mixing the four sound channels of the Amiga .

The tracker wasn't as convenient to use as other trackers, but it sounded slightly better than the OctaMED at the same time. Halving the playback frequency leads to an audible loss of quality, especially with high-frequency samples such as hi-hats . The problem of the Amiga being limited to four sound channels was later solved by the musicians rather by mixing ready-made track tracks into a separate sample. This increased the memory requirement, but also the playback quality. Chris Korte supported Armin Sander and helped design the user interface and composed the demo songs for the first version of the tool.
