Oncosphere

The first larva of the real tapeworms ( Eucestoda ) is called the hook larva or oncosphere ("hook ball" ). It develops as a waiting stage in mature eggs and by six so-called Embryonalhaken - in why they as - hook-shaped extensions at the head of six hook larva is called (Hexacanthlarve). The metacestode develops from it after it has been taken up by an intermediate host . In the Diphyllobothriidae , the oncosphere is called Coracidium . This swims freely in the water as a ciliated larva and develops into a procercoid in the first intermediate host .
