OpenMeta is a macOS standard for tagging files on the Apple Macintosh platform. OpenMeta was originally launched as an open source project by the software developer Ironic Software , but has now received broad support. OpenMeta is implemented as free software under the MIT license in Objective-C .

functionality

OpenMeta works as an extension of the standard Spotlight search on the Apple Macintosh platform. This means that no proprietary software is required to search for OpenMeta-tagged files, but can be easily done with Spotlight.
