There are several equipment variants, from the entry-level model without a display, the OpenStage 5, which is only similar to the Optipoint 500 entry in terms of its housing, but is a SIP terminal, to the OpenStage 80 G with a large-format color display, gigabit switch and extensive expansion options.

The OpenStage telephones can be integrated into in-house communication platforms such as OpenScape Voice or OpenScape Office and, in the SIP version, can be connected to free VoIP solutions such as Asterisk . The HFA version is also sold by the company SWYX as a terminal under its own label.

Since it is a family of telephones with open interfaces, OpenStage allows the development and integration of additional applications on an XML basis. All IP telephones (SIP and HFA) use the Linux open source operating system . With the exception of the OpenStage 60/80 T, the U p0 devices are only equipped with proprietary software.

The telephone menu can be operated using sensor navigation elements such as the "TouchGuide". The volume of the receiver, ringtone and loudspeaker can be individually adjusted using the “TouchSlider”. In addition, there are programmable sensor keys with which frequently used applications and features, such as address books, voicemail, conference and speed dial functions are available.
