The organic dry substance (OTS) is the proportion of the organic components of a substance after complete removal of water and all mineral components . This value is important for the production of biogas in biogas plants or pyrolysis plants .

This value is calculated by comparing the weight difference between the dry state after heating to around 105 ° C and after incineration at around 550 ° C to 600 ° C with the original weight .
