From 1943 to autumn 1945 Oskar Kürten was director of the statistical office of the then Reich capital Berlin . After the sudden death of his predecessor Oskar Büchner in 1943, Kürten was given the supposedly difficult task of ensuring the continuation of official duties during the war and after the collapse until autumn 1945. In addition, he also acted as editor: he is primarily responsible for the series of publications “Berlin Economic Reports” and “Berlin Statistics” with numerous highly regarded contributions of his own.
