The Owabi-game reserve ( ger .: Owabi Wildlife Sanctuary) is a game reserve in Ghana .

location

The reserve is located in the south of the country, about 210 kilometers (as the crow flies) northwest of the capital Accra and about 20 kilometers northwest of the city of Kumasi in the Ashanti region .

description

The park was established in 1971 and is one of the smaller reserves in Ghana with a size of 1310 hectares. It was named after the neighboring town of Owabi. The area of ​​the Owabi Game Reserve is completely covered with secondary rainforest . A large number of primates live here , including the monkey cats , as well as antelopes , porcupines , mongooses , numerous native bird species and migratory birds.
