Ozro John Dodds (born March 22, 1840 in Cincinnati , Ohio , † April 18, 1882 in Columbus , Ohio) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . From 1872 to 1873 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the first  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Ozro John Dodds was born in Cincinnati. He attended the public schools in his hometown. He studied law at Miami University . In the final stages of the Civil War he was a war participant on the side of the United States led by Abraham Lincoln . After the war was over, he graduated from Miami University. He was admitted to the bar in 1866 and opened a law firm in Cincinnati that same year. From 1870 to 1871 he was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives .

In a special election he was elected to the US House of Representatives as the successor to the resigned Aaron F. Perry as representative of the 1st District of Ohio. In the congressional elections in 1872 he could no longer stand up. He resigned from Congress in 1873. He went back to Cincinnati to work as a lawyer again. Dodds died in Columbus at the age of 42 and was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati.

On the Miami University campus, Dodds Hall is named after him in his honor.
