PC-Write was a word processing program and was one of the first computer programs to be successfully sold as shareware . The program was developed in 1983 by Bob Wallace .
PC-Write was a text editor that was navigated using the control keys on the computer keyboard. Individual editing functions were called up with the function keys of the computer. The program was able to generate pure ASCII text, but it also offered the option of generating a format with which the text could be formatted (bold, underlining).
Within the program there was a menu page in which the program could be configured. It was also possible to change the key functions here.
Later versions of the program came with a thesaurus . Additional programs for converting texts from other programs were also included.
