PC_DIMMER is free control software for DMX512 and Art-Net devices. The program was programmed in Delphi and runs under Microsoft Windows . In addition to Freestyler DMX and DMXControl, it is a free and open source alternative to commercial DMX512 control panels.

history

The project started in November 2004. Version 1 and 2 were published exclusively as RS232 variants. As of version 3 (2007), support for DMX512 interfaces was built in and more and more devices were supported. Version 4 (2008) enabled the use of up to 16 DMX universes and extensive device support for the first time. With the current version 5 (since 2010), extensive scene and effect functions and support for external hardware have been implemented. For version 6, an optimized dimmer kernel, numerous optimizations of the surface and the further integration of user requests were planned. However, the development was then discarded due to technical and time problems.

features

  • Control of a wide variety of commercial and free DMX512 and non-DMX512 devices (e.g. analog dimmer packs)
  • Abstraction between devices and DMX channels to make it easier to control different types of devices
  • Group devices and use the fanning function for multiple devices
  • HTTP server and other network functions (including Art-Net)
  • Time and beat controlled effects
  • Control of media files (audio and video)
