An online review journal on the history of the early modern period was published between December 1999 and December 2002 under the name Perform . The editors were Gudrun Gersmann and Matthias Schnettger . Gregor Horstkemper also played a key role in setting up the journal .

Since April 2001, the journal has had a "managing editor" in Peter Helmberger .

The journal was part of the server early modern times (sfn), a cooperation project between the historical seminar of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the Bavarian State Library in Munich . The sfn was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). 332 reviews were published in a total of 24 issues.

The journal was initially published bimonthly, from November 2001 monthly. The reviews were published between December 1999 and March 2001 in cooperation with the H-Soz-u-Kult mailing list . Since November 2001 the reviews have appeared in parallel as part of the new online review journal sehepunkte . With the December 2002 issue, the publication was discontinued. Since then, the reviews have continued to appear as part of the online review journal sehepunkte. The published articles can be accessed via a Perform archive page.
