PRIMO S

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

PRIMO S was a real-time database system from ABB , which was designed for use in process automation. It had a standardized SQL API and ODBC interface. When it was introduced, it was the first system that met the complex requirements of process automation. The system has now been replaced by newer products.

The system is still used today at over 1,600 locations under industrial conditions, including for monitoring power plants, diagnosing rail vehicles, controlling rolling mills , intelligent management of telecommunications networks or in production control technology.

The database runs on a variety of systems, for example Windows NT , OpenVMS and many UNIX derivatives . The system is one hundred percent portable, making it independent of any operating system.

The PRIMO S logo was also printed on Deutsche Telekom telephone cards.
