PSA World Tour

The PSA World Tour is the name of the men's squash tournament series organized by the PSA players' association . The season begins on August 1st of each year and ends on July 31st of the following year. For wins at the events, the players are credited with points in the world rankings.

Tournament categories

The tournaments differ in the number of world ranking points awarded.

Former rating until 2009

Until 2009, all tournaments were divided into three categories in order of importance:

  • the tournaments of the PSA Super Series
  • the Star tournaments
  • the tournaments in the Satellite category

The PSA Super Series tournaments were further subdivided into the categories Platinum (from 125,000 US dollars), Gold (from 100,000 US dollars) and Silver (from 70,000 US dollars). The Star category tournaments have been subdivided in much more detail: 5 Star (from 50,000 US dollars), 4 Star (from 40,000 US dollars), 3 Star (from 30,000 US dollars), 2 ½ Star (from 25,000 US dollars) , 2 Star (from $ 20,000), 1 ½ Star (from $ 15,000), and 1 Star (from $ 10,000). The tournaments in the Satellite category represented the lowest value . They were only divided into two categories, Super Satellite (from US $ 6,000) and Satellite (from US $ 3,000).

Today's rating since 2010

Since 2010 they have been divided into three categories in order of their value:

  • the tournaments of the PSA World Series
  • the tournaments in the PSA International category
  • the tournaments in the PSA Challenger category

The tournaments of the PSA World Series are again divided into the categories Platinum and Gold until 2014 . From 2015 this subdivision will no longer apply. In the PPE International category, there are four different sub-categories up to 2014: International 70 , International 50 , International 35 and International 25 . From 2015 a sub-category International 100 will also be introduced. The PSA Challenger tournaments are divided into just three sub-categories: Challenger 15, 10 and 5 .

The PSA World Series Finals , which are organized annually by PSA, play a special role as the season's closing tournament. In addition, PSA is the patron of the annual World Cup .

The PSA World Tour includes over 100 tournaments around the world, and over 400 players are registered in the monthly updated world rankings. The PSA tournaments have different rating categories that are based on the prize money distributed. The breakdown of points for the world ranking is based on the following scheme until 2014:
