Paese Sera

Paese Sera (Eng. The surrounding evening) was a left-wing daily newspaper for the surrounding area in Rome. It was founded on January 21, 1948 on the initiative of the Italian Communist Party . Decisive for this were the upcoming parliamentary elections in Italy in 1948 . The rural population chose mostly conservatively and this trend was to be countered. In addition, the founding was a journalistic challenge to the traditional newspapers, such as Il Messaggero and Il Tempo , from which one tried to differentiate both in terms of content and style. The newspaper was discontinued in July 1994. In the meantime a successor newspaper has been founded: the Nuovo Paese Sera .
