Panayiotis Kokoras has developed a special method of composition which he calls "holophonic musical texture". With this he developed a differentiated control of abstract sound structures, in which he is primarily interested in the changing sound poetics and temporal and spatial precision. It deals with the listener's perception and how to place an acoustic signal into a structural representation based on psychoacoustic perceptions of music. His compositions deal with the influence of electroacoustic processing of instrumental sounds and vice versa. Panayiotis Kokoras' spectrum ranges from acoustic works and mixed media, improvisation and tape compositions.

He is a founding member of the Association of Greek Electroacoustic Composers (HELMCA), which he currently chairs as President. Since 2004 he has been teaching at the Institute for Technology and Education in Crete. His works have been released on NOR, Miso Musica, SAN / CEC, Independent Opposition Records.
