Papirossa
The Papirossa ( Russian папироса - by Polish papieros , of paper ) is a type of cigarette , which today mainly in the former Soviet Union produced and consumed.
During production, a longer cardboard mouthpiece is formed and only the shorter part of the tube, approx. 1/4 to 1/3 of the total length, is filled with strong, short-fiber pressed tobacco ( Machorka ). Before smoking, the cardboard tube is bent twice to create an air chamber that cools the tobacco smoke .
Well-known traditional brands are “Belomorkanal” and “Herzegovina Flor”, Stalin's favorite brand .
In Polish , the term is used for all cigarettes: papieros (sg.), Papierosy (pl.).
