Paradise game

The term paradise game has several meanings:

  • a medieval spiritual drama staged in churches on December 24th, depicting the expulsion of Adam and Eve from Paradise .
  • Paradeisspiel is the name of the first of the three Oberuferer Christmas games that are traditionally performed in Waldorf schools and anthroposophical institutions during the Christmas season. It covers the biblical story from the creation of humans to their expulsion from paradise.
  • a play with the same theme, which was performed in the rural population of Styria up to the 20th century outside of the Christmas period and which was followed by another, albeit secular, entertaining piece.
  • a story by the writer Max Mell ("Paradeisspiel").
