Paraclinic
In medicine, paraclinic refers to the entirety of the examination results obtained predominantly with technical aids. This includes, in particular, the laboratory findings , the electrophysiological findings ( EKG , EEG , etc.) and the imaging methods ( X-ray , sonography , etc.), as well as microscopic (see histology ) and microbiological findings .
A distinction is made between the clinical findings , which are mainly obtained through the physical examination of the patient. This also includes eavesdropping and mirroring z. B. eye or ear, even if this is now mainly done with the help of technical devices ( stethoscope , ophthalmoscope , ear mirror ).
In doctor's letters the expression "Paraclinic oB" is occasionally used as an expression for the fact that the results of the paraclinical examinations did not reveal any abnormalities. The term "oB" means that a finding was made, but it was inconspicuous (correct would be "opB" in the sense of "without pathological finding").
