Parastin ( Kurdish Parastin 'protection'; formerly Parastin û Zanyarî ) is the foreign intelligence service of the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan .
Predecessor organizations were the party intelligence services of the Democratic Party of Kurdistan , Parastin (Kurdish for "security"), and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan , Zanyari (Kurdish for "information"). In 1968, both intelligence services were united under the name "Parastin û Zanyarî", but remained two separate organizations.
In 2010, both organizations were restructured into a single state authority and the name was shortened to Parastin .
There is also the Kurdish domestic secret service Asayîş .
