It may in Germany in town at locations without sufficient external illumination are used instead of the auxiliary light - for example, at locations where the road lighting is not switched on during the entire night (indicated by a red mark on light poles ; German road traffic regulations characters 394 or character 394- 50 or reference sign 12 in Austria). The parking light is usually operated with the turn signal lever and only illuminates the side facing the road. It uses the same light bulbsas used with the parking light, only on one side and partly without switched on license plate light . This depends on whether a centrally mounted license plate light is switched via the right or left strand. In classic cars, switches and lights for the parking lights are still completely separate. The parking lights must only within built-up areas are used on the highway must always parking lights are switched on.
