from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The parliamentary elections in Gabon in 2018 were supposed to take place on April 28, 2018, but were postponed to October 6 and 27, 2018.

120 members are elected to the National Assembly for five years each. 9 of the 120 MPs are appointed by the President. The last parliamentary elections in Gabon took place in 2011. In the preparation of the parliamentary elections, opposition parties said there were difficulties and allegations that the government had not properly prepared the elections. Finally, the election was postponed to October "for financial reasons". Following a court ruling in April, the prime minister was dismissed and the parliament dissolved.
