The Parma Baseball Club is a professional baseball team from Parma that plays in the Serie A - the top division in the Italian Baseball League (IBL). The club was founded in 1949 and plays its home games at the Stadio Quadrifoglio. With 10 championship titles, the club is one of the most successful Italian baseball teams. In addition, the team holds the title record in the CEB European Cup with 13 championship titles.
history
The Parma Baseball Club was founded on June 15, 1949 by founding members Giuseppe Monti, Giovanni Monegatti, Antonio Poli, Martino Zanichelli, Azzolino Carrega and Mario Truzzi. The first president of the association was Martino Zanichelli. In 1950, the league operation in the Serie A was included in the Italian baseball league. In the following years, the club established itself in Italian baseball and dominated the league, especially from 1976 to 1997, in which the team was able to win nine championship titles. The last and a total of tenth championship title was achieved by Parma in the 2010 season.
Due to changing main sponsors, the team has made several name changes, so it played under the names WeatherTech Europe Parma Angels, Cariparma Parma Angels, WorldVision Parma Angels, Parmalat Parma Angels, Germal Parma Angels. In 2009 the club's new venue, the Stadio Quadrifoglio, opened. The baseball stadium has 2500 seats, and two training fields and a softball field are integrated. The stadium was also used as a venue for the 2009 World Baseball Championship .
