Particle Measurement Programs

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Particle Measurement Program is a program for the further development of particle measurement technology in vehicle exhaust gases that is being developed by the working group of the same name set up in 2001 by the Transport Division of the UN / ECE . Since the working group is located in the subgroup GRPE of the Transport Division, the working group is also referred to as GRPE-PMP.

Existing emission standards define the permissible emission of particles (Particulate matter, PM) exclusively via the particle mass, because a suitable measurement technology for the number of particles was not available. The long-term goal of the working group is therefore to introduce a measurement technique for the particle number.

The manufacturers of exhaust gas measurement technology are currently bringing systems to the market for measuring the number of particles, which are mainly based on the CPC principle . In 2011, the particle number entered European emissions legislation for the first time .
