The passé récent (also called the immediate past , alternative names passé immédiat or passé proche ) is a verbal periphrase of the French language , it corresponds to the colloquially used past .

In French, it is used more in colloquial language. The written language uses the past tense , the perfect or past tense .

Formation: Personal form of venir in the present tense or in the past tense + de + infinitive.

Examples:

  • 1.Sg. Present tense: je viens de parler
  • 2.Sg. Present tense: tu viens de parler
  • 3.Sg. Present tense: il / elle / on vient de parler
  • 1st place Present tense: nous venons de parler
  • 2nd place Present tense: vous venez de parler
  • 3rd place Present tense: ils / elles viennent de parler

Example sentence : Elle vient de sortir un nouveau CD - "She just released a new CD".
